With 20 years of experience, Wisematic brings customised automation solutions for challenging cases in manufacturing, quality control and internal logistics. Its customers enjoy industrial-grade quality, featuring automated laser chip flipping and processed mobile phones.
Wisematic was established in 2005 and has designed and delivered solutions for challenging cases, integrating a variety of technologies, including machine vision and micrometre-level movements.
We have implemented automation for packaging and flipping chips, as well as for the assembly of medical needles and compass needles, and for mobile phone recycling. High accuracy, high speed and future-oriented high flexibility are typical characteristics of Wisematic automation solutions.
Quality solutions that work
Customers select Wisematic because of the well-known quality of solutions – over 99% system availability in a fast-paced 24/7/365 production line is something that would make any product manager proud, and we are.
Over the years, we have integrated sensors, robots, cobots and hundreds of machine vision systems for our customers. Many of them are tailor-made solutions. Customers are unique; they have their unique processes and products to be manufactured. They need a system integrator who understands their challenges and automation needs and is ready to customise a solution for them, for their specific needs. This is where Wisematic excels!
Wisematic has developed a catalogue of in-house skills, even as a small company with a limited headcount. This gives us a strong position, where many of our team members are multitalented and can handle multiple tasks. Wisematic also has a small machining facility.
Expertise in processed mobile phones, chip flipping and compass needle assembly
To mention some of the key areas of expertise, we have, for example, mechanical and electrical design and assembly, software coding, robotics and grippers, machine vision, and optics device design.
Three case examples from our path so far:
1. Chip flipping unit for a laser solution used in the medical field
A customer working in the medical field needed a solution to assemble their laser chips. This was a double-layer chip where the bottom layer was first picked up and placed into a desired assembly position – a tray-like structure.
Once the bottom-level chips were in place, the top layer was to be assembled on top of them. Due to a customer requirement, a no-touch zone was created in the middle of the chip. Therefore, the 1 mm × 2 mm chip had to be handled with great care. After picking the top-level chip up from a gel pad, it had to be flipped over before assembly.
For this assembly task, Wisematic designed and built a device incorporating sensing and multi-camera machine vision to guide micrometre-level movements and perform the documented quality control as well. Please see the picture below.
2. Compass needle assembly
The customer is a well-known manufacturer of sports equipment, including compasses. They needed an automated assembly device for the compass needle because this work was very demanding for humans due to the high accuracy requirements, high volume, and multi-phase assembly process.
Their goal was to enhance the quality and speed of the process through automation. A compass needle consists of multiple components, including glue, and all of these need to be in place with great accuracy to function correctly. This comprehensive system comprised multiple component feeder devices, two robots, a glue station, and several quality control steps utilising machine vision.
The customer has been pleased with the results, and the system has been running smoothly for years.
3. Refurbished mobile phones precondition the cell
When mobile phones enter the circulation process, they will first be charged to remain powered throughout the entire process. In this phase, the data on the phone is often erased, and the phone is also diagnosed via software. While some of the phones are locked or stolen, they cannot be moved forward in the process. These tasks mentioned above were requested to be automated by a customer, and subsequently by many others.
Wisematic took the challenge, and now we can offer a preconditioning cell for refurbished mobile phone processes. Customers have reported over 99% system availability in 24/7/365 operation. This is a good indication of the quality level of Wisematic devices – we automate your processes, allowing you to sleep well.

Unique solutions to match customer needs
Wisematic has four product lines:
- Chip & wafer solutions
- Recycling
- Quality control
- Internal logistics and process automation
These overlap partially, and that is intentional. We provide customised solutions that match customer needs in manufacturing, assembly, and quality control, including sorting.
Example products for chips & wafer lines are:
- Chip assembly & flipping machine
- Wafer-level quality control
- PIC chip assembly, alignment and quality control
While creating tailor-made solutions for customers, Wisematic also offers ready products that can serve as a starting point. This is a customer benefit, as we do not need to start from scratch, resulting in faster design and shorter time to market.
