Introducing Lanzador – The first Lamborghini all-electric car

The Lamborghini Lanzador electric car concept has been unveiled at this year’s Monterey Car Week, the company’s first all-electric model.

Set to be released in 2028, the Lamborghini Lanzador is a high-ground-clearance, four-seater GT that looks straight out of a futuristic sci-fi film.

The Lamborghini electric car boasts a cutting-edge, long-range battery, generating more than one megawatt in peak power.

The all-wheel drive Lanzador transfers this electrifying power to the road through electric motors on each axle, ensuring permanent all-electric drive in all conditions.

Furthering the company’s climate ambitions, the Lanzador is manufactured using sustainable materials that provide the luxurious quality synonymous with the Italian automaker and minimise its environmental impact.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, commented: “The Lanzador concept delivers on each of the elements that should define the first full-electric Lamborghini.

“It was important to uncover the first vision of the fourth model at The Quail event to share a glimpse into the future while surrounded by current Lamborghini models that represent 60 years of the company’s DNA.”

The Lanzador encapsulates Lamborghini’s ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ philosophy and roadmap towards net zero announced in 2021.

Based in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Lamborghini’s base of operations has been certified as a carbon-neutral operation since 2015, with the company planning to halve its emissions further from 2025.

The company aims to fully electrify its range by the end of 2024, investing over €1.9bn in the project to capture the growing EV market. The first Lamborghini electric car represents a significant milestone in achieving these targets.

The Lanzador offers not only unparalleled zero-emission power but also active e-torque vectoring on the rear axle for optimal cornering and industry-leading hardware.

Lamborghini says there are no compromises in terms of power, driving pleasure, and performance in the Lanzador.

Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer, explained: “For us, electrification does not mean a restriction, but an intelligent opportunity to develop more performance and drivability.”

Key features of the Lanzador include:

  • Driving dynamics control;
  • Active aerodynamics;
  • Active suspension;
  • Precise torque distribution; and
  • Wheelspeed control.

Mohr added: “The combination of these systems raises the driving behaviour of the concept car to a new level compared to a super sports car with a combustion engine: it is an electric, super-intelligent Ultra GT.

“With the newly-developed and highly-integrated driving modes, including active controls, Lamborghini increases driving pleasure and performance and enhances safety and feedback to the pilot.”

Sustainable materials reinforce Lamborghini’s decarbonisation efforts

Comprised of a range of sustainable materials, Lanzador’s interior captures the striking, high-end atmosphere that defines the luxury car brand without using finite and environmentally damaging resources.

From the Merino wool that envelops the dashboard, seats, and door panels to the recycled nylon and plastics that fabricate the seats, almost all of the car’s materials used are made in Italy.

The sustainable materials used in the Lamborghini electric car include:

  • Sustainably tanned leather;
  • 100% merino wool;
  • Regenerated carbon;
  • 3D printed foam; and
  • Synthetic fibre from recycled plastic.

The production versions of the Lanzador will be presented in 2028.
